Spaghetti is a mainstay in many households and holds a special place in my heart because it was the first dish I learned to cook when I started my cooking journey. Every once in awhile though, it needs some extra energy, a little spark, a touch of that WOW factor. In our kitchen that is feta cheese. Try this simple addition and watch the spaghetti disappear!

Homemade Spaghetti Sauce Recipe

The recipe specifies “1 jar of your favorite spaghetti sauce.” However, we prefer to make our own homemade spaghetti sauce. Indeed, you can buy spaghetti sauce in a jar or in a can. People even argue over which brand is the best. On the other hand, we make our own because we think homemade spaghetti sauce tastes better. As with many homemade sauces, the key is being able to choose the ingredients.

Organic Spaghetti Noodles

Use the best spaghetti noodles if you want the best spaghetti recipe. Like so many cooks, I grew up using the cheapest noodles I could buy. After tasting the difference organic noodles make, you will laugh at the few pennies you save with the less expensive brands. My personal favorite brand is Delallo™.

What does al dente mean?

Great question. I see a phrase like “al dente” and I think it is another fancy cooking technique that I will never master. How wrong I am! According to dictionary.com™ it means “cooked so as not to be too soft; firm to the bite:” That is to say, cook your spaghetti noodles until they are soft but slightly chewy. Most people, including myself, over-cook their spaghetti. After learning this simple definition, I now remove the spaghetti one minute earlier. Conclusion: Don’t let fancy terms scare you away.

InstaPot version – Best Spaghetti Recipe

The latest kitchen craze is the InstaPot and I agree with the benefits of owning this useful kitchen appliance. However, spaghetti is one of those recipes that is personal to me. I always cook my spaghetti recipes on the stove. To create this recipe using an InstaPot, simply top the spaghetti with feta cheese after cooking in your InstaPot.
