  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 can (21 ounces) cherry pie filling
  • 1 large egg room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • confectioners' sugar for dusting

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line 2 large baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Lay the puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface, and cut each into 6 rectangles.
  3. Arrange the puff pastries evenly onto the baking sheets, leaving about 1 inch between them.
  4. Use a fork to poke holes into the middle of each pastry, leaving a ½-inch border.
  5. In a medium bowl, stir together the cream cheese, sugar, and almond extract until combined.
  6. Spread one tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture onto each pastry.
  7. Top each with two tablespoons of cherry pie filling.
  8. In a small bowl, whisk the egg and water to create an egg wash; brush around the edges.
  9. Bake for 15-18 minutes until golden.
  10. Remove from oven and dust with confectioners' sugar. Let cool slightly before serving.
