Preparation Steps
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add vegetable oil, eggs, vanilla, and buttermilk to the dry ingredients and mix until smooth.
- Gradually add boiling water to the batter, mixing well. The batter will be thin.
- Divide batter evenly between prepared pans and bake for 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow cakes to cool in pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
