Preparation Steps
- Add the water, sugar, and yeast to a mixing bowl. Let sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add the flour, salt, and oil to the bowl. Mix on low speed for 30 seconds, then knead on medium speed for 8-10 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- Transfer dough to a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 to 2 hours until doubled in size.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface. Divide into two and shape each into a 12-inch log. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet, cover, and rise for 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375°F. Make slashes on the top of each loaf with a sharp knife.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and crust sounds hollow when tapped.
