  • 0.25 cup molasses
  • 1 egg egg
  • 2.25 cup flour
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 0.5 cup sugar (for rolling dough)

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Combine butter, brown sugar, molasses, and egg in a mixing bowl and beat until smooth.
  3. In another bowl, mix flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, cloves, and ginger.
  4. Gradually add dry mixture to wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  5. Place sugar in a shallow dish. Roll dough into 1-inch balls and coat each in sugar.
  6. Place dough balls on prepared baking sheet, spaced about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 8-9 minutes until cookies are soft but set around edges.
  8. Cool cookies on baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container for up to one week. For longer storage, freeze the baked cookies or dough.
