  • 0.75 cup unsalted butter cold and diced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups fresh strawberries sliced

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Pour in the heavy cream and vanilla extract, and stir until just combined.
  4. Drop spoonfuls of the batter onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  5. While the shortcakes are baking, prepare the strawberries by slicing them and sprinkling with a little sugar if desired.
  6. Slice the baked shortcakes in half and assemble by layering strawberries and whipped cream. Serve immediately.
